VOCIC has launched the U32 Ultra Lightweight Manual Wheelchair, a foldable, self-propelled wheelchair designed to simplify daily mobility for seniors, caregivers, and families. The wheelchair features a 23 lb aluminum frame and a total weight of 35 lb including wheels and leg rests, aiming to reduce the physical strain often associated with traditional manual wheelchairs.
For many families, a wheelchair is not just for medical appointments; it becomes an integral part of daily life, used for moving between rooms, transferring from bed to chair, loading into a car trunk, and navigating narrow hallways. The U32 aims to mitigate these issues with its lightweight design and compact folding size of 12.6" x 26.8", making storage and transport easier. Quick-release rear wheels enhance portability by allowing removal for tighter spaces.
Transfer ease is a key focus, with flip-up armrests and swing-in/out footrests that create a clearer path for moving between surfaces. Height-adjustable armrests and adjustable footplates help users find a comfortable position, while a 17.7" wide by 17" deep seat with a breathable cushion supports comfort during extended use.
Caregiver-friendly features include rear push handles with four height adjustments (from about 37" to 40.5"/40.6") to accommodate different heights, and a rear stepper tube for navigating small curbs. The wheelchair offers dual braking: user hand brakes on the main wheels and caregiver handle brakes on the push handles, providing control for both parties.
Safety is addressed with rear reflectors for visibility in low light, a safety belt, an anti-tip device, and a reinforced Double-X Base frame for stability. The narrow frame, with an overall width below 25.6 inches, facilitates movement through standard doorways and tight corridors.
