UGI Utilities, Inc. announced it will start two natural gas main replacement projects in Coplay in August, part of its commitment to enhance infrastructure safety and reliability. The upgrades will impact several streets and may cause traffic delays, road closures, and temporary natural gas service interruptions. Residents and businesses along the project routes will also have the opportunity to convert to natural gas.
The first project begins Monday, August 4 and is expected to finish by early September. Construction will affect Pembroke Road between Wood Street and Stefko Boulevard, Arcadia Street between Pembroke Road and Minsi Trail Street, and Minsi Trail Street between Arcadia Street and East Washington Avenue. The second project starts Monday, August 11 and should be completed by the end of September, impacting Coplay Street between South Ninth Street and South Eighth Street, South Eighth Street between Coplay Street and Hokendauqua Street, and Hokendauqua Street between South Eighth Street and South Sixth Street.
Work will occur Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During these hours, drivers, residents, and business owners may face road closures, detours, and traffic delays. Parking restrictions will be enforced on affected streets. While natural gas service will be interrupted periodically, UGI will need access to properties to inspect and relight equipment. The completion dates may shift due to weather or working conditions; final paving and restoration will follow after underground work is finished.
