UGI Utilities, Inc. is scheduled to begin a natural gas main replacement project on Monday, August 4, in Hazleton, as part of its ongoing commitment to safe and reliable service. The work will take place on Kiefer Avenue between Hazle Street and East Street, with an expected completion date of mid-August.
Construction will occur Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During these hours, drivers, residents, and business owners should anticipate road closures, detours, traffic delays, and possible parking restrictions on impacted streets. Some natural gas service interruptions are also expected, requiring UGI personnel to access properties to inspect and relight equipment.
UGI noted that weather and working conditions may affect the completion date. Final paving and restoration will be completed after the underground work is finished, at a later date.
The project also presents an opportunity for homes and businesses along the route to convert to natural gas. Interested parties can contact UGI at 800-276-2722 or email gasconversion@ugi.com for more information.
