The Trauma Resource Institute (TRI) will host its first annual international conference and celebrate its 20th anniversary from October 2–4, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Claremont in Claremont, California. The event, available both in person and virtually, signals a significant expansion of TRI's global footprint, which now reaches all 50 U.S. states and more than 77 countries. This milestone gathering underscores the growing international demand for trauma-informed and resiliency-focused practices, offering a platform for practitioners, educators, researchers, and community leaders to reflect on two decades of impact and chart future directions.
Guided by the theme "Rooted in Well-Being, Planted in Community, Cultivated by Hope," the conference will convene TRI's diverse global community, including natural leaders, practitioners, researchers, and community partners. No previous TRI training or experience is required to attend, making the event accessible to both longtime members and those discovering TRI for the first time. This inclusivity reflects TRI's core mission: to cultivate trauma-informed and resiliency-focused individuals and communities worldwide. By bringing together a broad spectrum of participants, the conference aims to deepen connections and explore new possibilities for expanding trauma-informed work across different cultures and contexts.
Over three days, participants will explore the application of the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® and Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)® across various communities, professional settings, and populations. Programming includes presentations, discussions, interactive learning opportunities, and practical tools that attendees can incorporate into their own work. Key topics will cover real-world applications of CRM and TRM, emerging research and innovative resiliency-focused programs, community-based initiatives addressing trauma and chronic stress, and meaningful collaboration with practitioners, educators, and partners from around the world. Both models are designed to help people understand the biological effects of trauma and chronic stress while learning skills that support balance and well-being, highlighting how these approaches strengthen individuals and communities in culturally responsive and accessible ways.
The conference's significance lies in its potential to accelerate the global adoption of trauma-informed practices. As chronic stress and trauma increasingly affect communities worldwide, TRI's evidence-based models offer scalable, community-driven solutions. By connecting practitioners across borders, the event fosters knowledge exchange and collaboration that can lead to more effective, culturally adapted interventions. The 20th anniversary celebration also marks a moment to honor past achievements while setting a forward-looking agenda for the next generation of resiliency work.
In addition to the main conference, TRI will hold a 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, October 3. Separate tickets are required for the gala. The conference will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Claremont, located at 555 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, CA 91711. Virtual attendees will access programming through the Whova online platform. The deadline for in-person registration is September 10, 2026, while virtual registration remains open through September 30, 2026.
