Survey Reveals 42% of Standing Workers Experience Foot Pain Before Shift Ends, Footminders Report Finds

A new survey by Footminders Inc. has found that 53% of workers who spend long hours standing or walking experience foot pain several days a week, and 42% report that discomfort typically begins before their work shift ends. The findings, released in the company's 'Foot Pain at Work Report,' underscore the prevalence of foot pain among workers in industries such as healthcare, retail, construction, and food service.

The survey, conducted online between March 1 and March 11, 2026, among 246 qualified U.S. workers who spend at least four hours per workday standing or walking, also revealed that heel pain is the most commonly reported pain location. Despite the high rates of discomfort, only 22% of workers experiencing weekly foot pain reported using orthotic insoles. Additionally, 44% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the support or comfort of their work shoes.

Fred Salomon of Footminders Inc. said, 'These results highlight how common foot pain can be for people whose jobs require long hours on their feet. Many workers assume soreness is unavoidable, but supportive footwear and orthotic insoles can often make a meaningful difference.'

The report further indicates that foot discomfort often extends beyond the workday, affecting the quality of life for 32% of those surveyed. The complete findings, including industry-specific data and ergonomic analysis, are available in the Foot Pain at Work Report published by Footminders Inc.

The survey results point to a significant gap between the prevalence of foot pain and the use of orthotic solutions. With 53% of workers experiencing pain several days a week, the implications for workplace productivity and employee well-being are substantial. Employers may need to consider interventions such as providing better footwear or encouraging the use of orthotic insoles to mitigate these issues.

Footminders Inc., based in Boca Raton, Florida, develops podiatrist-designed orthotic insoles aimed at improving foot comfort and support during everyday activities. The company's report serves as a resource for understanding the impact of prolonged standing on worker health and highlights the potential benefits of proactive foot care.
