Recruitment Operating System (ROS®) has announced the release of its updated and expanded Franchise Recruitment Manual, a resource designed to align with the practices of today's high-performing franchise recruitment teams. Created in collaboration with FranMan, known for its expertise in professional operating manuals, the updated guide offers advice on integrating proven recruitment principles with modern tools and best practices. This is the first significant update since 2021.
Art Coley, founder and CEO of ROS®, emphasized that while the fundamentals of franchise recruitment remain unchanged, the tools and technology available to recruiters have evolved. “Our job is to bring those pieces together without making recruitment more complicated,” he said. “We want to take an already powerful resource and make it even more relevant to how champion recruiters operate today.”
The manual has long served as a practical framework for franchise sales teams, outlining recruiter roles and how to move candidates through ROS®'s proprietary 8-Step recruitment process. However, the recruitment landscape has changed with expanded datasets, AI-driven technologies, and sophisticated candidate intel. The updated edition combines timeless principles with the latest tools and best practices needed for optimal performance. ROS® collaborated with FranMan to oversee the project and develop the next generation of the manual.
Key updates include Recruitment Analytics, which introduces how recruiters can use data to understand their pipeline and improve decision-making. The Artificial Intelligence section provides best practices for responsibly using AI to support recruitment efforts. Recruiter Behaviors & Performance expands beyond scripts to address daily, weekly, and monthly behaviors of high-performing recruiters, including performance reviews. The manual also adds context for Different Types of Franchise Buyers, such as multi-unit and institutional candidates, and strengthens guidance on Candidate Funding while keeping content vendor-neutral. FDD & Recruitment Process Best Practices have been expanded to help recruiters guide candidates through critical stages, and Modern Learning & Content Integration connects the manual with other ROS® educational resources like ROS Academy™.
Lennon Coley, VP of Analytics at ROS®, highlighted the importance of analytics in the update. “We believe recruiters should have a crystal-clear understanding of their own numbers, including how they operate and where best to apply them,” he said. “What we’ve accomplished by expanding our guidance in the analytics space is tying their importance directly to recruiter behaviors and execution—a significant step forward.”
The updated manual aims to advance the recruiting industry's best practices, policies, and standards. It remains faithful to the industry's core principles while incorporating the latest developments in procedures, tools, and techniques. For more information, visit ROS®'s website.
