Jo Gill, a retired educator with 32 years of experience in public and private schools, has released a children's book titled I Am Happy, designed to help children discover joy in ordinary experiences. The book, now available on Amazon and other major retailers, takes readers through the four seasons, highlighting simple pleasures such as splashing in puddles, jumping into leaf piles, flying a kite, and stargazing.
Gill, who served as a teacher, department chair, and high school administrator in Louisville, Kentucky, emphasizes that the book aims to counteract the distractions and pressures children face today. 'Children today face so much distraction and pressure. This book was written to remind them that joy can be found in the smallest things,' Gill said in a statement. 'Whether it is drinking hot chocolate or riding a bike, happiness begins with awareness and gratitude.'
The story uses repetition and gentle affirmations to convey that happiness is not something to wait for but something to find in every moment. Colorfully illustrated by KDP Pro Publisher, I Am Happy is intended to be read aloud with young children, making it a resource for parents and educators to teach emotional awareness and mindfulness.
Gill's career spanned more than three decades, during which she mentored hundreds of students and teachers. Her message, rooted in faith, family, and hope, now extends to a new audience through her debut as an author. The book is available in both paperback and digital formats.
The release of I Am Happy comes at a time when mental health and emotional well-being among children are growing concerns. By focusing on gratitude and appreciation for life's simple pleasures, the book provides a gentle approach to fostering resilience and positivity in young readers.
