Opawica Explorations Inc. (TSXV: OPW) (OTCQB: OPWEF) has announced a comprehensive exploration update for its 100%-owned Arrowhead Gold Property in Quebec's Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The company is set to launch a 10,000-metre diamond drilling program, with permits already secured for 25 drill pads, to systematically test high-priority targets generated from one of the most extensive modern geological datasets ever assembled on the property.
The Arrowhead property sits adjacent to Agnico Eagle's LaRonde Complex, which has produced over eight million ounces of gold since 1988. This proximity underscores the property's potential within a world-class mining district. Opawica's strategy aims to test the continuity, extensions, and depth potential of known gold mineralization, building on a century of exploration history that includes historical high-grade gold values of up to 45.05 g/t Au and chip samples grading 90.75 g/t Au over 1.0 metre.
What sets Arrowhead apart is the modern geological data layered over historical results. Opawica's inaugural 2022 drill program, consisting of 4,306 metres in 14 holes, confirmed gold mineralization across the property. Notably, 11 holes intersected gold zones grading greater than 1.0 g/t Au along a one-kilometre strike length, with highlights including 18.7 g/t Au over 0.35 metres and 1.52 g/t Au over 14.8 metres. The program also identified two principal geological settings for gold: shear zones with quartz-carbonate-tourmaline veins and mineralized felsic tuffs.
Despite these successes, nine target zones from the 2022 program remained untested. The upcoming drill campaign is designed to address these and other high-priority targets, leveraging advanced 3D modelling and artificial-intelligence-assisted targeting to refine drill locations. The company believes Arrowhead is at a pivotal stage, moving from confirmation to scale testing.
The exploration update highlights the property's historical significance, with exploration dating back to the 1920s, including trenching, pitting, underground workings, and sampling of multiple mineralized structures. However, Opawica's modern approach integrates geophysics, seismic surveying, and 3D geological modelling to identify deeper, untested targets.
Yvan Bussieres, P.Eng., an independent Qualified Person under NI 43-101, has reviewed and approved the technical information in this release. The company cautions that mineralization on adjacent properties is not necessarily indicative of mineralization at Arrowhead.
Opawica's management emphasizes the strategic importance of this drill program, which could significantly de-risk the property and potentially lead to resource definition. The company's objective is to increase shareholder value by developing its exploration properties cost-effectively and seeking partnerships with industry leaders.
