NexCourt, a North Texas construction company with a 35-year history, has been awarded the contract to build six mini-pitch futsal courts across the region for the 2026 FIFA World Cup planning committee, according to the latest episode of The Building Texas Show. The episode, published July 9, 2026, features Mark Kundysek, CEO and founder of NexCourt, discussing the company's rise from a $250 dealer kit in 1988-89 to a full sport construction operation that has built nearly 50 Dallas Mavericks Foundation courts and numerous other community sports facilities.
The six 5,000-square-foot mini-pitch futsal courts were commissioned by the North Texas World Cup Committee after FC Dallas, which had previously worked with NexCourt on six builds, referred the company. Kundysek explained that futsal, played with a ball that has almost no air and emphasizes foot skills and teamwork, is gaining popularity as a training format for soccer. The first ribbon cutting for the World Cup pitches took place at the Esperanza Community Center in North Dallas on June 20, followed by George Stevens Park in downtown Arlington on June 26.
Beyond the World Cup project, NexCourt has a long history of community-focused builds, including 25 years of work with the Dallas Mavericks Foundation, 17 years with Nancy Lieberman's Dream Courts, and projects for the Dallas Stars Foundation, Make-A-Wish, and the Dak Prescott Foundation. Recent builds include courts for Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham in Arlington and Oklahoma City Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein in East Oklahoma City, highlighting the referral-driven pipeline. The FC Dallas Foundation is currently working with NexCourt on another mini-pitch in Mansfield, tied to the city's new soccer stadium.
