Seaworth, a former player and coach, found his second calling behind the camera, documenting the emotion and energy of local athletics across his hometown.
According to the NCAA, only 2% of college athletes will ever play professional sports. Seaworth notes that for many athletes at local community colleges, the motivation is not scholarships or fame but a love for the game. "That's where the real heart of sports lives," he says. Seaworth believes anyone can help document local college sports with the technology already in their pockets. He encourages community members to attend games and capture not just the score but the pride, emotion, and effort. "That's what lasts," he says, urging people to share those moments to remind others of the value of community. He also suggests volunteering time or resources to support local sports programs.
The importance of these connections is especially pronounced in smaller towns, where college sports serve as cultural anchors that bring generations together. Seaworth's work reminds communities that these games are shared experiences that define who they are.
