MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) is preparing to mobilize Savanna Drill Rig #629 and crew for Lawson 5, the largest step-out to date from its Lawson Complex Natural Hydrogen Discovery. The well will target an area approximately 27 to 31 km northeast of Lawson 1 through Lawson 4, testing the scale potential of the broader Genesis Trend across a 30-km mobile belt and along the 475-km Salt Wall extending toward the North Dakota border.
The move represents a significant escalation in the company's exploration efforts. While previous wells confirmed the presence of natural hydrogen, Lawson 5 is designed to determine whether the system is a localized occurrence or part of a much larger regional trend. Success could reshape the understanding of natural hydrogen resources in Saskatchewan and attract further investment to the emerging sector.
MAX Power also reported that Lawson 4 has been successfully cased and cemented after encountering the highest natural hydrogen readings to date at Lawson, along with a thick basal Cambrian reservoir featuring high permeability and porosity. These characteristics are critical for commercial viability, as they suggest the potential for sustained flow rates and large volumes. The company is planning near-term completions programs at Lawson and Bracken, where independent evaluation identified multiple prospective natural hydrogen and helium zones.
Data from the expanded drilling and completions programs will feed MAXX LEMI, the company’s AI-assisted proprietary platform. This integration of advanced analytics aims to optimize future drilling locations and improve resource characterization. For investors, the combination of positive drilling results and cutting-edge technology could accelerate the path to a resource estimate.
The implications extend beyond MAX Power. Canada’s first-ever subsurface natural hydrogen system, confirmed through deep drilling with data validated by three independent labs, positions the country as a potential leader in a new energy frontier. Natural hydrogen, if produced economically, could provide a zero-carbon energy source, aligning with global decarbonization goals. MAX Power has built dominant district-scale land positions across Saskatchewan with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of natural hydrogen.
The company also holds a portfolio of properties in the United States and Canada focused on critical minerals, highlighted by a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, 100%-owned by MAX Power’s U.S. subsidiary. This diversified approach may appeal to investors seeking exposure to both energy transition and critical minerals themes.
As drilling progresses, the market will watch closely for results from Lawson 5 and the upcoming completions programs. For more details, see the full press release at https://ibn.fm/nFnGr. Updates on MAXXF are available in the company’s newsroom at https://ibn.fm/MAX.
