As the Baby Boomer generation ages and family caregivers face mounting pressures, a new digital marketplace is stepping in to transform how non-medical home care is coordinated. LoLo Care announced its public launch in North Carolina's Triangle Region, covering Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, offering families an alternative to traditional agency models with greater flexibility, transparency, and caregiver choice.
The platform connects families with independent caregivers for services such as companionship, meal preparation, errands, rides, light housekeeping, and respite care. Unlike standard agencies that often require four-hour minimums and impose high markups, LoLo Care allows bookings starting at just one hour, with a transparent hourly rate of $30—$27 of which goes directly to the caregiver. This pricing model aims to ensure caregivers are fairly compensated while making care more affordable for families.
Charles Petrini-Poli, Co-Founder and CEO of LoLo Care, emphasized the platform's mission to empower families. “Families can manage scheduling, updates, and payments all in one place, ensuring peace of mind and keeping everyone updated on the care being provided,” he said. The service does not guarantee same-day assistance, but most requests can be fulfilled within a few hours.
One of the standout features is the family coordination hub, designed to relieve the administrative burden often shouldered by adult children. Relatives can be invited to share calendars, review caregiver-submitted visit notes, and stay informed after every visit—whether they live in Wake County or across the country. This shared visibility aims to reduce the isolation that many family caregivers experience, especially in an era where families are geographically dispersed.
The launch comes at a critical time. By 2030, all Baby Boomers will be 65 or older, and according to AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving, 1 in 4 adults already acts as a caregiver. LoLo Care's technology addresses structural gaps in the home care industry, where traditional agencies often struggle with manual coordination, overhead costs, and missed visits. The platform's tech-enabled infrastructure aims to bridge this gap by offering a more affordable and efficient alternative.
Caregiver safety and quality are prioritized through detailed profiles that display identity verification, background-check status, experience, ratings, and services offered. Independent caregivers control their schedules and deal directly with families, keeping the majority of their earnings—a departure from the high margin extraction typical of agency models.
LoLo Care already boasts over 300 caregivers on the platform, ready to serve thousands of families in the region. This launch marks the first step in a nationwide expansion, with services currently available exclusively in Wake County, including Raleigh and surrounding areas. By eliminating agency constraints and providing a user-friendly digital experience, LoLo Care is poised to redefine how families coordinate home care.
The company's mission is to make aging at home stress-free, dignifying, and transparent. With its innovative marketplace, LoLo Care offers families direct control over who enters their homes, while providing caregivers with fair, empowering work. As the demand for personalized home care grows, this platform represents a significant shift toward a more flexible and family-centric approach.
