Lahontan Gold Corp. (TSX.V: LG) (OTCQB: LGCXF) has announced three strategic additions to its management team, signaling a decisive step forward in its journey from mine developer to mine builder. The company is targeting a 2027 production restart at its flagship Santa Fe Mine in Nevada, and these appointments are designed to strengthen its technical, operational, and business development capabilities as it advances permitting and mine planning.
Tony Gesualdo rejoins Lahontan as Vice President of Exploration, a role he previously held from 2020 to 2023. During his earlier tenure, Gesualdo played a key part in the initial Mineral Resource Estimate for the Santa Fe Mine. His deep familiarity with the project will be instrumental as the company continues to refine its resource base and explore satellite targets.
Michael Kubel joins as Senior Mine Engineer, bringing over a decade of experience in Nevada open-pit gold mining and heap-leach operations. His background includes work at the Florida Canyon and Hycroft mines, both of which employ similar extraction methods to those planned at Santa Fe. Kubel's expertise will be vital in optimizing mine design and ensuring operational efficiency as the project moves toward construction.
Jen Earle takes on the role of Investor Relations and Business Development. With two decades of experience in natural resources, capital markets, and investor engagement across the LSE, ASX, and TSX markets, Earle is well-positioned to articulate Lahontan's value proposition to a global investor base as the company progresses toward production.
Kimberly Ann, Founder, Executive Chair, CEO, and President of Lahontan Gold, emphasized the importance of these hires: "These additions strengthen our technical, operational, and business development capabilities as we advance Santa Fe permitting, mine planning, and our planned transition toward construction and operations."
The Santa Fe Mine has a storied history, with past production of 359,202 ounces of gold and 702,067 ounces of silver between 1988 and 1995 from open-pit operations using heap-leach processing. The project boasts a NI 43-101 compliant Indicated Mineral Resource of 1,539,000 oz Au Eq (48,393,000 tonnes grading 0.92 g/t Au and 7.18 g/t Ag) and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 411,000 oz Au Eq (16,760,000 tonnes grading 0.74 g/t Au and 3.25 g/t Ag).
The company plans to update the Santa Fe Preliminary Economic Assessment and drill test its satellite West Santa Fe project in 2025. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to de-risk the project and pave the way for a production decision.
Lahontan Gold holds four top-tier gold and silver exploration properties in the Walker Lane of Nevada, a mining-friendly jurisdiction. The Santa Fe project alone covers 26.4 square kilometers, and the company is focused on advancing it toward production while exploring its satellite targets.
