In response to recent federal cuts to public media, Nail Communications has launched a campaign to celebrate regional public radio with free bumper stickers that read 'NPAH'—a New England-inflected take on NPR. The stickers are available at www.NPAH.org.
Nail, which has worked with public media companies for years—most notably on the award-winning rebranding of WBUR—was alarmed by the cuts. 'Public media is the crown jewel of a journalism ecosystem that is already under extreme duress,' said Alec Beckett, Creative Partner at Nail. 'So we couldn’t just sit back and watch it get knee-capped.'
The bumper sticker campaign aims to remind the public that public media is not a monolithic entity but a network of local operations that serve their communities with meaningful journalism, storytelling, and entertainment. As one of Nail’s billboards for WBUR stated, their job is to 'Tell the truth and tell it well.'
'With the government cutting off crucial funds to NPR, we wanted to remind everyone of the importance of their local public media institutions. And for those of us in New England, we don’t call it “NPR”, we call it “NPAH”,' added Beckett.
