The 52nd HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, 17th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, and 24th Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running through January 15. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the three fairs bring together over 2,600 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, including first-time participants from Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Norway.
Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, said at the opening ceremony that the fairs, themed 'New Play for All,' cover play, growth, and creativity. She highlighted the launch of the new 'Pop & Play' pavilion, open to both trade buyers and the public, which features approximately 150 popular intellectual properties (IPs) including B.Duck, Hot Toys, LAURA, and threezero. The pavilion offers fair premieres and global limited-edition collectibles, such as MOMOLAND's debut dolls and TUTU MOKEY figurines limited to 100 pieces worldwide.
Several product trends are emerging at the fairs. The 'kidult' and toy collecting markets continue to grow, with the 'Pop & Play' pavilion and Kidult World showcasing adult-oriented toys like NARUTO collectible keychains and Transformers model kits. The new 'Happy Ageing' label helps buyers identify toys for seniors, addressing global aging populations. Sustainability is another key trend, with over 400 exhibitors displaying a green leaf logo under the 'Green Solutions' label, including toys made from ocean-bound plastic and FSC-certified baby push walkers.
Educational toys that combine learning and play are in demand, such as Canadarm robotic arm kits and STEM microscopes. Korean pop culture influences are evident, with products related to 'KPop Demon Hunters' and 'Squid Game,' as well as Pinkfong's Baby Shark learning bus making its debut.
The 'Pop & Play' pavilion also features interactive activities, including artist talks and autograph sessions with renowned creators like b.wing, Kenny Wong, and Steven Choi. A key seminar on January 14 will discuss the IP economy's explosive growth, featuring speakers from Alibaba 1688 and Nikopicto Limited. Mascots Ah Pop and Ah Play will appear for photo opportunities, and giant statues from Hot Toys and threezero are on display.
The Baby Products Fair has expanded its 'World of Strollers and Gear' and 'ODM Strollers and Gear' zones, hosting about 230 exhibitors. The Stationery & School Supplies Fair welcomes exhibitors from New Zealand for the first time, showcasing optical magnifiers. The Asia Toys & Games Forum, themed 'Empowering the Toy Industry for Global Success,' will take place on January 13, featuring experts from Euromonitor International, Disney, SGS, and others discussing market outlook, IP strategies, and toy safety.
The fairs operate under the EXHIBITION+ model, combining physical exhibitions with the Click2Match online platform, accessible from January 5 to 22. Buyers can use Scan2Match to bookmark exhibitors and build connections. For more information, visit hktoyfair.hktdc.com, hkbabyfair.hktdc.com, and hkstationeryfair.com.
