The 36th HKTDC Food Expo, along with the Beauty & Wellness Expo and Home Delights Expo, opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running from 13 to 17 August. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the fairs bring together more than 1,850 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions, creating a vibrant marketplace spanning food, tea, home living, beauty, and wellness sectors.
Under the central theme “Live Well. Stay Well,” the expos aim to reflect how wellness has become an integral part of everyday life. Dr Jonathan Choi, Council Member of the HKTDC, emphasized that the fairs offer a wide range of products and experiences that support healthier, happier, and more balanced lifestyles. Sophia Chong, Executive Director of the HKTDC, highlighted Hong Kong’s role as a platform for global food enterprises to expand into the Chinese Mainland and international markets, strengthening its position as a bridge connecting these markets.
The fairs feature Five Themed Days to promote quality living. The first day, “Happy Eat Happy Life,” showcases wellness-focused products such as cistanche health drinks, ready-to-eat bird’s nest, and organic dried blueberries. The Home Delights Expo presents a high-speed food processor for texture-modified meals, while the Beauty & Wellness Expo offers complimentary health assessments. The Department of Health will also promote the “EatSmart Restaurant Star+” initiative to encourage healthier dining options.
On 14 August, “The World in Blink” focuses on visual enjoyment with global delicacies like South African honey, Finnair’s inflight chocolates, and Chiu Chow style foie gras toast. Visitors can also explore innovative beauty devices and cultural activities such as embroidery workshops and ethnic dance performances.
“Coffee or Tea?” day on 15 August highlights the dedicated “Coffee Zone” with Yunnan coffees and rare teas at the Hong Kong International Tea Fair, including purple bud raw Pu'er tea and ceremonial-grade matcha. New zones like the “Tea Lifestyle” area feature innovative tea beverages and Zen-inspired displays, along with tea meditation sessions and the Hong Kong Gong Fu Tea Art seminar.
On 16 August, “Stay Fresh, Stay Ahead” spotlights premium fresh produce, including the new “Hong Kong Harvest” brand by the Fish Marketing Organization and Vegetable Marketing Organization. The Chinese Mainland pavilion presents hundreds of agricultural products, while the Gourmet Zone celebrates its 15th edition with 15 star chefs demonstrating exquisite dishes, including Chiu Chow pan-fried bombay duck.
The final day, “Let’s Chill,” introduces the “Stay Relax” zone in the Beauty & Wellness Expo with red-light therapy pods and medical wellness products. The Home Delights Expo hosts “Go Sleep Exp” to explore sleep journeys, and the Food Expo debuts a Dessert and Gelato Theme with over 100 desserts and specialty ice creams.
For trade visitors, Food Expo PRO introduces a “Meat Zone” and a “Food Science and Technology Zone” focusing on alternative foods and future food technologies. Pet food products are also showcased for the first time, with innovative packaging that preserves nutrition without preservatives. The halal food and beverage label returns for the third consecutive year, with over 130 exhibitors participating.
The International Conference on the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) runs concurrently, expanded to three days with over 30 speakers. The conference focuses on “Clinical Translation, Regulatory Policies and Global Innovative Pathways of Traditional Medicine,” aiming to facilitate international exchange and support the globalization of Chinese medicine.
