Players are tasked with placing generators, routing transmission lines, and connecting demand nodes while maintaining reliability amid storms, demand spikes, and frequency instability. The game models electricity as a live, interconnected system where every decision has real-time ripple effects across the entire grid. This design aims to give players a visceral understanding of grid management challenges.
"I wanted people to feel what it's actually like to run a grid," said Patrick Croal, founder of Lake Shore Blvd Studios. "When your frequency drops and a hospital goes dark, you feel it. That's the whole point."
The open beta is free with no download required, making it accessible to anyone with a browser. This launch comes at a time when public understanding of energy infrastructure is increasingly important due to growing electricity demand and the integration of renewable energy sources.
