MIDDLESEX COUNTY, CT – A community-wide effort to address food insecurity brought together residents, volunteers, and local organizations on August 5 for "Flood the Food Banks," a countywide food drive that collected an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of food for 13 local food pantries.
The initiative, organized in partnership with Middlesex United Way as part of the Middlesex Pantry Project, aimed to strengthen local food pantries and ensure access to nutritious food year-round. Donations included canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna and chicken, macaroni and cheese, and other essential items, collected at participating grocery stores and community locations.
The Flood Law Firm served as the presenting partner, helping raise awareness and encouraging participation. Firm members also volunteered, interacting with residents and contributing directly to organizations combating food insecurity.
