Clym Environmental Services, LLC officially opened its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event drew over 100 attendees, including elected officials, industry leaders, and community partners, highlighting the facility's importance to the region.
The ceremony included a VIP tour of the facility and information stations detailing the ozone treatment technology, as well as a rendering of the soon-to-be-completed interior. Energy Select, the solar company responsible for the facility's solar installation, hosted a display showcasing the benefits of the renewable energy system that will power operations.
Remarks were delivered by several state and local leaders, including Charles Watts, President of Clym Environmental; Secretary Harry Coker of the Maryland Department of Commerce; Bill Atkinson, Allegany County Commissioner; Jeff Barclay, Director of Allegany County Economic Development; and Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council. Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, noted, "Clym Environmental will create living-wage jobs, and its operations, using technology and environmental science, make its proximity to Frostburg State University a perfect fit for the Frostburg Business Park and Allegany County."
Clym also received a certificate of congressional recognition presented on behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney. Kendall Abruzzese, Western Maryland Outreach Coordinator, praised Clym's "pioneering work in environmentally friendly and innovative waste management biotechnology" and thanked the company for its contributions to workforce opportunities and economic growth in Western Maryland.
The Frostburg facility will utilize Clym's proprietary ozone treatment technology to process biohazardous material, converting it into safe, reusable materials. The technology generates ozone from ambient air and is powered by solar energy, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional thermal treatment methods. This approach aligns with Clym's commitment to sustainability and its focus on serving the life sciences, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries.
This milestone follows Clym's recognition as the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year winner at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. The facility supports Clym's continued expansion across the eastern United States and reinforces its role in advancing sustainable waste management practices.
