BRAIN Biotech AG Appoints Dr. Sven K. Weber as New CEO to Drive Growth in Specialty Enzymes

The Supervisory Board of BRAIN Biotech AG has appointed Dr. Sven K. Weber as the future Chairman of the Executive Board (CEO), effective October 1, 2026. Dr. Weber, 44, will succeed Adriaan Moelker, who has led the company for six years and will retire at the end of his contract term on September 30, 2026. Moelker will remain as a senior advisor until January 2027.

Dr. Weber brings extensive leadership experience from the BASF Group, where he most recently served as Vice President, overseeing the global enzyme business. In that role, he drove innovation-led, profitable growth, significantly boosting revenue and earnings. His background also includes roles as Global Segment Director at Chemetall GmbH and head of contract research at hte GmbH. He holds a diploma in chemistry and a doctorate from the University of Heidelberg, along with an executive program in general management from the SGMI Management Institute in St. Gallen.

Dr. Michael Majerus, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, praised Moelker's tenure: "Over the past six years, Adriaan Moelker has repositioned BRAIN Biotech AG as an integrated manufacturing company in the enzyme sector and has successfully monetized projects from the BRAINBioIncubator." Majerus expressed confidence in Weber, stating, "With Dr. Weber, we have been able to bring on board an internationally experienced leader with proven expertise in the industrial enzyme business. He will continue implementing the company’s strategic direction, tap into additional growth potential, and accelerate its operational implementation."

Dr. Weber commented: "BRAIN Biotech has a strong technological foundation and excellent scientific expertise. Together with the group’s employees, I intend to build on this to accelerate growth, sustainably strengthen profitability, and bring innovative products to market more quickly. My goal is to develop BRAIN into a leading provider of specialty enzymes in selected application areas and to tap into additional growth potential through the BRAINBioIncubator."

This leadership transition is significant for BRAIN Biotech, which focuses on specialty enzymes for food and life sciences. The company, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, reported revenue of €49.6 million in fiscal 2024/25 with around 280 employees.
