Four young artists from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County's Rita & Rick Case Club spent four weeks decorating a panther sculpture donated by Rita Case, president and CEO of Rick Case Automotive Group. The artwork is part of Panthers on the Prowl, an initiative launched with the American Cancer Society and Florida Panthers President Bill Zito and his wife Julie. The program combines art, community, and philanthropy to raise funds for cancer research, patient services, and advocacy.
The artists—Gizele B., Samantha A., Valentina Laurel L., and Jeydilis L.—designed the sculpture to reflect Rita Case's journey. The panther's back features a road lined with Case dealership brand names, along with the Florida Panthers logo, American Cancer Society pink socks symbolizing courage, and empowering words representing cancer survivorship and the Boys & Girls Clubs' mission. A membership card hangs from a collar around the panther's neck, signifying the organization's commitment to youth and community, while the panther's golden eyes convey boldness and spirit.
Lead art instructor Natalie Chin Sue said, "We loved creating this panther because it wasn't just about art. It was about showing how many people and organizations truly care. Every part of it represents hope and the power to make change together." The artists named their piece Legacy on the Prowl to honor the impact of Rita and Rick Case, highlight cancer research and awareness, and celebrate the lasting impact of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
Rita Case expressed her appreciation for the young artists' work, stating, "I just love how these young artists came together to create this artwork which we hope will serve as a beacon of hope for cancer research and awareness. I appreciate how they incorporated the Florida Panthers and our company's journey because whether on blades or wheels, we both inspire the South Florida community to get around, get involved and make a positive impact through philanthropy."
Selected panther sculptures will be showcased during a special Panthers on the Prowl Night at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise during the 2025–2026 NHL season, celebrating South Florida's hockey pride while supporting a powerful cause.
