The 'Charm'tastic Mile' of Baltimore, a 1.3-mile corridor connecting downtown West, the Inner Harbor, and Harbor East, is seeking a 100-year agreement with the City of Baltimore and Mayor Brandon Scott valued at $1.25 billion. The proposed agreement, reported by the corridor's management, would span from 2026 to 2126 and is structured in four 25-year phases with increasing annual values: $5 million per year for the first 25 years, $10 million for the second, $15 million for the third, and $20 million for the final quarter-century. The total valuation of $1.25 billion averages $12.5 million annually.
The 'Charm'tastic Mile,' which celebrated its 10th anniversary on April 25, 2026, is the only federally registered trademark street in Baltimore and the State of Maryland, according to the USPTO. It shares its introduction date with the iconic Domino Sugars neon sign, which was erected 65 years earlier in 1951. Mayor Brandon Scott and Governor Wes Moore both issued proclamations honoring the milestone anniversary.
The 100-year agreement is intended to cement the corridor's place among America's most famous streets, alongside the Magnificent Mile, Rodeo Drive, and the Las Vegas Strip. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' was granted USPTO registration on September 15, 2020, making it one of the few trademarked streets in the United States. The corridor's management positions the agreement as a catalyst for the city's ongoing Inner Harbor redevelopment, a nearly $1 billion construction project. 'This is more than history for Baltimore; it's history for America,' a statement from the corridor's representatives noted.
The agreement's timing aligns with the USA 250th anniversary celebrations and aims to leverage the growing global interest in famous streets and sports culture. Derrick E Vaughan, an analyst for Famous Streets & Sports Culture In America, is the contact for the initiative. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' is listed on Google as one of the top 10-15 most famous streets in America and has been a focal point of Baltimore's tourism and economic development efforts since its branding in 2016.
