Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK) announced on June 24, 2026, the start of a diamond drilling program at the Andong Bor copper-gold target in Cambodia. The company plans to drill a total of 2,800 meters over the next eight months, focusing on the Thmei North target, a one-square-kilometer copper anomaly. The program is staged to accommodate Cambodia's wet and dry seasons, with an initial 1,200 meters in three holes beginning immediately and the remaining 1,600 meters scheduled for early 2027.
The decision to drill eastward is based on insights from 2025 drilling, which revealed that mineralized structures strike north-northwest and dip steeply to the west. By orienting holes to the east, Angkor aims to intersect mineralized beds perpendicularly, maximizing the recovery of copper-rich potassic-altered sediments adjacent to feldspar porphyry diorite dikes. Dennis Ouellette, VP Exploration, explained that this orientation allows the company to cut through the most favorable host rocks as the drill passes through alternating intrusive and sedimentary layers.
The Andong Bor license spans 100.28 square kilometers across Oddar Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey provinces. The Thmei North target represents a modified copper porphyry system where the best mineralization occurs in potassic-altered sediments near dikes that range from a few meters to tens of meters in width. Core from the drilling will be logged, photographed, and sampled, with selected intervals sent for assay as the program progresses.
Beyond Thmei North, the company is evaluating Thmei South, which requires additional auger soil geochemistry to extend the copper anomaly southward and determine its full extent. This area will be the focus of future drill programs.
The company's exploration efforts are supervised by Dennis Ouellette, B.Sc., P.Geo., a Qualified Person under NI 43-101. Angkor Resources is a leading resource explorer in Cambodia, holding two mineral exploration licenses and an onshore oil and gas license through its subsidiaries. The company is also advancing oil and gas exploration in Block VIII, having completed 2D-seismic in 2025 and identified multiple drill targets.
